personality
+Naive+
Having been raised on a farm in the middle of nowhere, with an overprotective mother that limited her tv time, phone time, computer time, and even had scheduled 'visiting hours' for her, Cassie lived a fairly sheltered life. She didn't know much more than the inside of her school, and the land of her farm. Of course, the only time she wasn't being watched by her mother was when she was out doing chores, or she was in the garden. So, the only things she really knew were flowers. All that stuff with innuendo and such? Yeah, she won't get it.
+Trusting+
Cassidy trusts way too easily. Her mother always chased off the bad people before they even got close, so in her mind, all things are bright and beautiful in the world, people haven't got a single mean bone in their bodies, and things are safe. She trusts quickly, and is quick to forgive, making her entirely susceptible to being taken advantage of and easily convinced to do things she wouldn't normally do.
+Gullible+
Because she is so trusting and naive, Cassie is incredibly gullible. Tell her that the sky turns green in the middle of the night, but because it's so dark you can't tell, and she'll probably believe you. She's simple, doesn't care too much about school, and is entirely subjected to 'chain yanking' quite often. She's the butt of a lot of jokes, because she's so easily tricked into believing the most ridiculous of things.
+Caring+
Cassidy is always trying to make sure that others are okay, trying not to be mean to others for fear of making them feel bad. She is very softspoken as a result, not saying much by way of mean comments or anything that could be taken in a negative way. Positivity is the surest way to make people smile after all, right?
past
The Bowers couple were older. Mrs. Bowers had been unable to have children for the entirety of their marriage, as much as she wanted to. They had even been to some of the top fertility specialists in the world. Nothing worked. So, for a long time, they waited on lists to adopt a daughter.
Finally, when the time came, there was just one woman with a daughter to be adopted. The little girl was named Cassidy, and she was born incredibly small, a Premature baby. Other than being small, she was a perfect little baby girl. Mrs. Bowers and Mr. Bowers were both so happy to finally have a child of their own. They promised never to tell the child she was adopted, at least not until they thought she was old enough.
From the get-go Cassidy always enjoyed flowers. She spent her days picking the dandelion flowers and making little bouquets and crowns out of them, humming as she went. That was how she spent most of her childhood- picking flowers and singing. Her mother always loved having her singing around the house.
As she got older, her mother taught her to garden, so it became one of her favorite things, and something she was incredibly good at. Gardening was the only thing she was really able to get lost in without having her mother freak out about it. Overprotective mother and such. She still sang. A lot too. That was another thing she did, though her mother had reservations about it. She didn't like all those newfangled songs her daughter seemed to be singing. Eventually she let her sing what she wanted though, something Cassidy took full advantage of. It was all she really had, since she didn't have very much time with her friends, on the computer, on the phone, or even out at the library. Growing up a country girl with overprotective parents was hard on Cassie.
present
Now, Cassidy still doesn't know she's adopted. However, she is out from under her parents' thumbs. She decided she wanted to get as far from her parents as possible, and as such decided to go to New York. She found a school there, decided to major in vocal performance, and is ready to study and live life on her own. No rules, no limitations.
Well, excepting that she didn't know her way around New York. She was almost guaranteed to get lost tons and tons of times. Already she had done it twice, ending up somewhere near queens when she was supposed to be another place entirely. But she isn't letting that stop her. Eventually she will figure it out, and then it won't be a problem. At all. She'll sing her way through life and it will all work out. Right?

book title Thumbelina/Little Tiny
backstory Thumbelina, or Tiny as she is called, was born from a flower after an older widow asked a fairy to help her get a daughter. The girl was barely the height of the woman's thumb, earning her the name Thumbelina, or Tiny.
Tiny always had a beautiful voice, and slept in a polished walnut shell. One night, an ugly toad heard her singing, and kidnapped her in the night, so the girl would be her son's wife. Tiny didn't want to marry the ugly toad, and the fish in the river didn't want her to either, so they helped her escape from the toads, only to be snatched up by a beetle. After the beetles told her she was too ugly and left her, she was alone, living off of honey and dew. She survived summer and autumn, but come winter, she was far too delicate to live in the cold.
She came across the home of a mouse, and she stayed with her, eventually being chosen by the mouse's neighbor to be his wife. The mouse's neighbor was a mole however, and Tiny did not want to marry him. The mole had dug many passages, and one day when walking them, Tiny came across a dead bird. She wove blankets for him, and tucked him in so that he could rest in peace. However, this warmed the frozen bird, and as she lay over him, she heard his heart beating. He offered to take Tiny away, but she said she could not.
Eventually, however, she left with the Sparrow, and he took her to his home. He told her she could not stay with him though, and he took her to her own flower. She saw then the king and queen of the fairies. The fairy prince was frightened at first of the sparrow, but quickly proclaimed Tiny to be the most beautiful maiden he'd laid eyes on and asked her to be his bride. She agreed and all the fairies came out to celebrate, giving Tiny wings and other gifts. They were married, and then Tiny was renamed as Maia, since Tiny did not befit a girl as pretty as she was.
