Finally, finally, finally! Melody had managed to save up enough money to move out of the horrifying girl dorms of Barrie. Not only was it the first step towards making a reasonable home setting for her baby brother but it also was a freedom from daily catfights and drunk sorority girls who clung to their virtue like it was their life. Talk about a waste. After paying her deposit, Melody began to happily move boxes into apartment 532. It was a small flat like what she used to live in. It had a lovely view of the city. She couldn’t say no.
The neighbors seemed nice, She even had a few men help her with boxes on their way to their room. That’s right, real men! Not sweet like boys who snuck into the girl’s dorms to maybe get lucky with their girlfriends, real possibly-single men. The prospect of a whole building of new people excited Melody. New friends and possibly new lovers. Another plus was that Sahara was only a few blocks away. If she wanted to take her work home, she could.
Speaking of work, Melody needed a second job. The monthly bills have gotten higher and she needed to be able to save a significant amount each month for her brother. As soon as that diploma was in her grasp, Melody would rescue her brother. Little Freddie would be able to have a normal life and not be sheltered like she was. Her parents would just have to forget him. She wasn’t sure how she could do that but she knew people who could draw up documents and make Freddie hers. She wouldn’t be his mother but she definitely wanted to be his primary caretaker.
But she was getting ahead of herself. That was the future. Right now she could just enjoy the view of numerous people walking by her. One in particular caught her eye. She was beautiful. Melody could tell just from one meeting of there eyes. Long silky dark hair and deep blue eyes that said it all. The way she walked with grace even with her short stature. A girl that Melody wanted to get to know. She could feel it. Melody looked away coyly and began to lift another box. She only looked back once before she reached her door, as if to say. “Follow me.”

Julie Hassall liked new tenants.
They were so innocent. So trusting. So easy to play with. They were fun.
There was a new girl moving in today. Julie had every intention of finding her and getting to know her. Sometimes the new tenants weren’t so trusting and innocent. Sometimes they knew what was up – they knew that not every neighbor was friendly. Those new tenants were dreadfully boring. Julie never spoke to them again. What Julie had gathered so far from this new girl was that she was pretty (Julie would be the judge of that) and that lots of the men living here had helped her with moving in. Smirking, Julie pulled her hair over one shoulder and continued up the stairs. If this girl could get the guys to help her with moving, then she must be useful in some sort of way.
It was clear when she landed on her floor that the new girl lived up here as well. There were piles of boxes just outside one door. A couple was lingering by the stairs, whispering, pointing towards the room. Julie first rolled her eyes and then politely asked them to move on. How would they have felt if they were being watched while moving in? Never mind that it was certainly something Julie would do. In fact, it was something she was doing right now. The woman was certainly pretty, though it was entirely possible for someone to look attractive from a distance only to be entirely hideous up close.
She’d never know until she approached. Besides, her apartment was just a few doors down and she’d have to walk by anyway. Flipping her hair back (it was beginning to feel heavy on just the one side, anyway) and putting on her best welcoming smile, Julie started down the hall. It wasn’t difficult, making eye contact with the woman. Julie agreed with what she’d heard; the new girl was very pretty with eyes that reminded her of storm clouds and dark brown hair. Widening her smile just a bit, Julie swung back around and approached the new girl’s apartment. Julie hung around the door way, leaning against the frame.
She crossed her arms and looked around – the place was slowly coming together. “Welcome to Jacobs. I’m Julie. ” She stepped in further, lowering her arms and putting her hands on her hips. Her eyes wandered, taking everything in, including the lovely view from the window. “Quite a sight, isn’t it?[/color]” Julie’s nod towards the city was obvious enough; her glance to the new girl, however, said quite a bit more. words: 434 outfit: here!notes: julsody! Melody wasn’t surprised when the girl was behind her at the doorstep. Though she knew that it probably was just common curiosity that got the better of the woman.
“Welcome to Jacobs. I’m Julie.”
“Oh! Hi!” Melody replied with a smile. She set down the box and turned around gracefully to greet Julie. “Julie, I’m Melody. Thanks. You wouldn’t be also part of the welcoming committee would you? I swear I’ve seen about ten of them today,” she added with a wink. Some guys had the worst pick up lines. That sort of flirting wasn’t even a good form anyway but they sure fucked it up.
“Quite a sight, isn’t it?”
Well, that was definitely more complex than a pick up line. “Yes, there are great sights all around this city. I’m glad I could find a place that captures one.” She sidestepped into the kitchen and brought out a bottle of red wine and two glasses. She was always prepared to make new friends. “I think I’m about finished here for today. Would you like to share a treat with me?” She led Julie into her living room and set the glasses on her coffee table. She poured two glasses of the wine she snuck out of the Sahara’s bar. After taking a sip of it, she decided to start some small talk.
“So Julie, Are you from here? The city I mean. I’ve been here a while but I’ve never had the pleasure of growing up in NYC,” Melody asked leaning back on the plush love seat. Nothing would have pleased her mother more than to live in the city but they couldn’t afford it mostly because of the money they threw at Melody for lessons and contests.Melody always said it was karma that her mother was too busy trying to make her childhood dreams come true through her daughter to think about her actual dreams. Her mother was a strange woman for certain. “I’m from Decatur. You’ve probably never heard of it.”
