clothing style Nothing bright or obnoxious. He tries to go for neutral colors and regular shirts and jeans. Actually, he likes very little to no color in general, even on other people. He prefers eyesight, thank you. The only pattern he can really deal with is stripes, and not obnoxious ones.
distinctive traits He has glasses but he doesn't really wear them that often.
He also has a Boston accent, but no one really notices because he doesn't talk all that often.
...personal*
personality First off: Eddie is not the negative connotation of 'slow'. While it may seem like it takes him a while to figure things out, it really doesn't. He's smart, but doesn't want to rush into things. So he takes his time to respond to whatever it is you're getting him to respond to, and sometimes, he doesn't respond at all. He's careful with his few words, as he isn't all that talkative, and would much rather listen to an opinion than give his own. Eddie hardly ever starts a conversation, though he can carry one on if he wished. While it seems that he doesn't have very many opinions or thoughts, he actually has quite a few, though he prefers not to voice them as he's humble and modest and really doesn't want anyone to get and overly positive ideas about him, if that makes sense.
That being said, one thing he cannot stand is a huge ego. Bragging makes him want to cringe, and usually, he'll pipe up for once to call someone out on it. Usually this results in an argument or a challenge of some kind, and he'll accept if it means putting said egotist in their place. And usually, because of his strategies, he wins.
That's another thing, he's very good with planning and working out a strategy, his only issue is getting out of this stage. He's the kind of person who could plan for an eternity and never take action unless it's absolutely necessary. He doesn't actually like to waste all that planning, and really, it's unintentional. But he does like to take things slow, so he would never rush into anything. His mom always jokes that if he does meet a girl, he'd probably take a year to ask her out and three more to propose. To which his cheeks turn a nice shade of pink and he reminds himself to one day take some sort of revenge for saying that in front of potentials, but that day hasn't come yet, so there.
Really the only reason he's embarrassed by that is because it's true. He's the exact opposite of any sort of Romeo like figure, and actually, most teenage boys. There's no hint of compulsion anywhere with Eddie, except maybe how he likes things to be organized. He's never had anything more than a crush because by the time he actually works up the nerve to ask the girl out, she's with someone else. And that usually crushes his dreams and he eventually moves on, though it takes a while. And if girls ask him first, he's usually surprised
past Edgar Michael Brooke was always a quiet and well-behaved child. Everybody was shocked, seeing as his mother was a bit of an erratic genius type and his father was in a band in his youth and reverted to producing music and was known to choose rather crazy bands. Working out of Boston, their hometown, wasn't easy (it wasn't exactly LA or New York), but they made it work and owned a bit of property, and Eddie grew up recieving whatever it was he asked for.
Of course, this grew boring to him when he was around seven, and he stopped asking for things. His mother, a singer who also invented recording technology and other musical equipment, kept giving them. She didn't really know her son, but she did think she knew what most young boys his age would want, so she gave him everything he ever wanted for a price. He had to keep quiet about her one fling with a man who wasn't his father. Eddie never planned on telling anyways, and really didn't want everything he recieved, but he thanked her and tried to play with all his video game systems and wear all his fancy clothes and ride his bicycle and things like that.
But what he really liked doing was writing music. One of the things he had actually asked for was a guitar, and he taught himself how to play at a young age and was writing his own music in private in his room. He also taught himself piano and played that, as well. Eddie never revealed his music to anyone, though, because his mother was paranoid and tended to ask him everything about his day to make sure he didn't give away her secret, and usually the questions came with ridiculous gifts that he didn't want but was forced to take. The music was the only thing he left out, the one thing he could have that was his own, that he wanted.
His mother loved him very much, just didn't understand him. So when she stood outside his door one day while he was playing guitar and listened, she thought she was helping him. When she brought him to the studio and told his father that they had a prodigy, she didn't realize that the quiet brooding child of ten wasn't wanting her to expose him, he was allowing it because he didnt know how to tell his mother 'no'.
So they recorded him, but eventually he was able to pipe up and tell his parents that he at least wanted to wait before they publicized it. His mother hesistantly agreed, though she bgean to smother him even more, and as he grew into his teen years, he realized he didn't deserve any of the nice things he had gotten and planned to give them away when he was old enough. And he realized that he needed to get away from his mother, if only for a little bit. Away from Boston in general, though he knew his mother wouldn't let him go too far.
present
Eddie convinced his mother to let him go to Baum Academy in New York City, and she let him, though tried to get him to take his things and told him she would probably send him another gift every once in a while. He thanked her, but said it would be easier if he just took his guitar, his clothes, and some personal things. And he wanted to buy things in New York City, since it was going to be his first time going, and all. She reluctantly agreed, and decided to send him money weekly instead. And with every envelope, Eddie groans and usually ends up letting people borrow some instead of actually spending it all himself like his mother intended.
Eddie likes Baum Academy, even if he doesn't like his gym class and the fact that one extracurricular is required as well. He decided to choose band because pretty much everything else was a sport and he didn't exactly like to sing, but it meant that he would have to do his music for someone else. Though, honestly, the band teacher is pretty chill and has kept his talent and his music low-key. Only the people in band really knows he plays guitar, and he doesn't plan on telling anyone else any time soon.

booklegend title The Tortoise & The Hare
backstory So Tortoise is around one day, and he hears this Hare dude bragging about he's the fastest of all the little woodland creatures and how he could beat anybody and blah blah blah. Tortoise was all "oh heeeeeell nah" and te hare was all "bro I bet you couldn't beat me" and tortoise was all "bitch please I accept this challenge." So they decide to race and of course, Hare takes off running right away and the Tortoise just goes at his own pace because he can. So the Hare gets almost all the way to the finish line and decides "well fuq this, I got this in the bag, I'mma take me a nap" so he does. Tortoise keeps going and sees Hare sleeping but doesn't wake him up, just keeps going until he's literally almost at the finish line and Hare wakes up just to see him cross it. Needless to say, Hare was put in his place, and he was all "dafuq did you beat me" and the Tortoise is all "Slow and steady wins the race, bro" and they live happily ever after I guess.
