Foolish him. After Nayeli and him kissed last time… were they dating? He wasn’t exactly sure. His mind was confused. He didn't get her number. Stupid move on his part. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
With each angry word in his head he took another drink of his beer. Cody sighed. He didn't even know what kind it was, or if it was even his beer. He couldn't remember. He didn’t really care, either. All he knew was that he was an idiot.
He scanned the dance floor, hoping she would be here. After all, they had met here, so maybe she would come back. His lips twitched into a smile when he remembered that she wasn’t the type to drink, and he set the beer down, instead ordering a glass of water.
Why did he do it? He didn’t know. He drank beer. Enjoyed it, too. So why did he just give up that beer for water just because he remembered that some girl didn’t drink beer? He sighed, shaking his head. He didn’t know anything anymore.

She went out dancing again.
There was no way she could ever stay away from the flashing lights, pounding bass and fluid motion of night clubs. And this one happened to be the best one around. They also had bartenders that gave drinks to any girl who fluttered her eyelashes.
Nayeli kneeled on the bar stool, throwing this particular bartender a wide smile.
The young man grinned back in response.
"Anything I can get you, baby?"
Her eyes narrowed very slightly. He didn't notice.
"Everclear."
He looked surprised.
"A shot of 151 then.."
"No. 190 proof."
The bartender's jaw dropped.
"Are you sure? That's some pretty hardcore stuff, sweetie."
"Do I look unsure?"
After analyzing her face for a second, the man poured her the drink.
She tipped her head back and swallowed the alcohol. Fucking HELL, that burned. It was as if she had swallowed some corrosive liquid, an acid that lingered in her throat. But it was only the one shot. She would be good for the rest of the night.
Hopping off the stool, Nay made her way into the twisting mass on the dancefloor.
She breathed in deeply and smiled as she began to dance.
Paradise.

‘Everclear.’
He heard her voice. Almost didn’t believe it was her for a second until he heard her again. Cody glanced around, catching sight of her downing the Everclear before heading back out to the dance floor.
She was a dancer, after all. He knew that she would end up coming back, no matter what happened. There was just no possible way she could stay away. It was in her blood. It was wired in her brain. She had to dance.
Setting his water down he slipped through the crowd on the dance floor and came up behind her, gently putting his hands on her waist. “Oh hun,” Cody spoke, spinning her around gently to face him. “Don’t you know it’s not very fun to dance alone?” He smiled and laughed slightly. “190. Really? You’re good for the night, right? That’s pretty strong, so I would think so. But I suppose if you aren’t, it’s on me. Got it?” He winked and started to move to the beat of the music. “Once again, I’m sorry for my lack of skill when it comes to dancing. I guess I’ll just have to have another lesson, won’t I?”

Warm hands settled on her sides and her breath hitched.
Cody.
It was Cody.
“Oh hun, don’t you know it’s not very fun to dance alone?”
His deep voice was smooth and she could hear the smile in it. Cody spun her on the spot and gave a small laugh. She laughed with him, elated to see the bright smile on his face.
"Well, hello to you too, Cody."
“190. Really? You’re good for the night, right? That’s pretty strong, so I would think so. But I suppose if you aren’t, it’s on me. Got it?”
She gave him a sly little smile as he winked.
"I've got it. But why do I feel like there's a double meaning hidden in there?"
He danced with her and she sighed happily. She had been disappointed when she had realized they had no way of contacting each other.
“Once again, I’m sorry for my lack of skill when it comes to dancing. I guess I’ll just have to have another lesson, won’t I?”
Nayeli's eyebrows flew up and she smiled.
"Do you want another lesson? I charge by the hour, after all," she teased, dancing around him.
"And really, you aren't dressed to dance. I mean, you don't have the ballet slippers or anything."Outfit: www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=34529546

‘Well, hello to you too, Cody.’
Cody smile and gave her a quick kiss. “Hello, beautiful Nayeli,” he greeted her, his eyes sparkling.
She gave him a sly smile and said, “I've got it. But why do I feel like there's a double meaning hidden in there?"
Cody chuckled. “What, me have a double meaning? Come on now.” He grinned coyly and tried to keep up as she danced around him.
‘Do you want another lesson? I charge by the hour, after all, and really, you aren't dressed to dance. I mean, you don't have the ballet slippers or anything.’
He glanced to his feet. “I think I like my Nikes. It’s cool. Ballet slippers aren’t my thing, y’know?”

He leaned over and kissed her lightly as he greeted her. She had trouble remembering to breathe and she felt annoyed by the effect he had on her.
“What, me have a double meaning? Come on now.”
Nayeli flashed him a mischievous smile and grabbed his hands, attempting to make him dance correctly. His eyes dropped to his shoes briefly.
“I think I like my Nikes. It’s cool. Ballet slippers aren’t my thing, y’know?”
Nayeli's cool grey eyes glittered, the corner of her mouth twitching slightly.
"They could be. If you want to find out, I teach a dance class. At Dans dans la Paix. Not a hard place to find."
She giggled at the idea of him joining the class. Wouldn't he be surprised to show up and share the dance floor with 3-6 year old girls in pink and bows!
"You could even stay after class, for special lessons," Her voice was softer now, persuading and a tad more seductive than she really meant to be. But she wasn't named after love for nothing.
Nayeli felt a little dizzy from the alcohol, but kept dancing, knowing it would cease soon enough. She did an excellent impression of Shakira's moves. Nay had been perfecting it for years, since Shakira had been her inspiration to explore other types of dance, and not only ballet.

‘They could be. If you want to find out, I teach a dance class. At Dans dans la Paix. Not a hard place to find.’
Cody shook his head, “Nah, I think I’m good. I don’t want to join a class with a bunch of girls in pink,” He chuckled, taking a strong hold of her hands when she grabbed his hands.
‘You could even stay after class, for special lessons.’
Combined with the shaking and the fact that it was coming from her, Cody instantly regretted the next words that came out of his mouth. “Special lessons? Sign me up!” He winked, mentally slamming his head against a wall for agreeing to it. Who knew what he was going to show up to find – a bunch of little girls in pink tutus?

“Nah, I think I’m good. I don’t want to join a class with a bunch of girls in pink.”
"Keep talking like that and the guys WILL beat you up. They don't take kindly to gender confusion. Especially not from guys who can't dance."
She smirked at him, drawn in closer by his face, his eyes, his voice. Damn, he has a stronger effect than she thought.
“Special lessons? Sign me up!”
He winked, and Nayeli's face shone with glee. Was this guy serious?! She sincerely hoped so. She liked this guy, and any guy who went along with her schemes was destined for greatness, in her eyes, anyway.
"You will be dancing like a pro in no time. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Noon to three."
She looked him over, a bit skeptical.
"You'll need black sweatpants, and a white t-shirt. And unfortunately for you, you'll need ballet shoes. Unless one of the guys will lend you a pair."
Nayeli glanced up into his blue eyes, grinning. She watched him for a long while, before explaining.
"I'm trying to find out if you'll regret this or not. Probably a little of both. Dancing is hard work."
And it was true. People were always amazed to see what happened to some dancers. Ballerina's were the worst. Broken limbs, pulled muscles, and horrible things happening to their feet. At least, the dancers who didn't take care of themselves.
Nay smiled and shook her head.
"No, you won't regret it. The special lessons will help."

"Keep talking like that and the guys WILL beat you up. They don't take kindly to gender confusion. Especially not from guys who can't dance."
Cody chuckled. “Of course. I won’t talk like that anymore. Just still trying to get my head around the fact that guys dance. I was brought up for it being girls only, unless it was… well… like we are now.”
"You will be dancing like a pro in no time. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Noon to three."
“Got it. You’ll definitely see me there,” He told her, smiling down at her beaming face.
"You'll need black sweatpants, and a white t-shirt. And unfortunately for you, you'll need ballet shoes. Unless one of the guys will lend you a pair."
“Uhmm, I have the first two. But I do not have ballet shoes, and I /do not/ want to get a pair from one of the guys. I don’t know them.” He thought for a second. “I do have an idea though. How about we spend a day together? We can go out for lunch or dinner and just hang out. Then before we are done you can show me to get a pair of these ‘ballet shoes.’ Even if we can't get those ballet shoes for some reason, I still think we should plan a day for us.” He looked at her hopefully, remembering that he needed to give her his phone number, especially if she agreed to it.
She looked up at him, just watching him for the longest time. He was just falling and falling in an endless pit in her eyes when she spoke. "I'm trying to find out if you'll regret this or not. Probably a little of both. Dancing is hard work."
He decided to wait patiently and quietly, and was rewarded. "No, you won't regret it. The special lessons will help."
He smiled before leaning down, capturing her lips in a long but soft kiss. “I’m glad,” Cody said as he pulled away.

He laughed good-naturedly.
“Of course. I won’t talk like that anymore. Just still trying to get my head around the fact that guys dance. I was brought up for it being girls only, unless it was… well… like we are now.”
She nodded. It was a common misconception. Not that it didn't irk her of course. Being underestimated happened to her all too often.
“Got it. You’ll definitely see me there,” He told her, smiling. “Uhmm, I have the first two. But I do not have ballet shoes, and I /do not/ want to get a pair from one of the guys. I don’t know them. This guy was great. No hesitation, he was ready to put on a pair of ballet slippers for her. It took her a few moments to realize that he had just asked her out. She smiled softly at him.
"It sounds like fun. And I know the perfect place to get shoes. But," Nayeli pulled her phone out of the front of her dress and waved it, "We need to remember to get each others numbers this time."
He smiled before leaning down, capturing her lips in a long but soft kiss. Nayeli grinned and sighed happily.
“I’m glad,” Cody said as he pulled away.
She took his hand and pulled him off the dance floor, towards the bar, beaming all the way. Propping herself up on a stool, she asked for a water, then swiveled to look at Cody.

“It sounds like fun. And I know the perfect place to get shoes. But we need to remember to get each other’s numbers this time.” She said, pulling her phone out of her pocket and waving it.
He smiled at her smile. It was a thing of beauty, perfect, just like her. He gently took her phone and entered his number before giving it back. She then pulled him to the bar, asking for a water, and sat down. He hopped up on a stool, quickly asking for a water for himself as well, and grinned at Nayeli. “So, beautiful, what have you been up to since I last saw you?”
