Sophie Miller should have done the right thing. Of course, she didn't know it wasn't the right thing, in all honesty, she wanted companionship and someone to talk to that actually, you know, existed. So she requested a roommate. And not just a roommate, either, a boy roommate. Just a couple of checked boxes and she was placed in the co-ed (which she had always thought stood for cooperation education, showed what she knew) dorms with a guy named Mikey.
Honestly, she was excited. She had all girl roommates at Baum and none of them liked her. And they hogged the bathroom and the closets and were so touchy about their stuff being touched. It's not like Sophie had cooties!! She had passed them on yearws ago!! She was definitely clean, they were just germanaphobic, or whatever. They made fun of her behind her back, too, though Sophie didn't mind that so much as they were too busy doing that to talk to her, and she got so bored it hurt.
But Mikey was really cool, and he had a bunch of cool younger friends that she vaguely remembered from Baum, and was from France! Sophie's name was French but she wasn't really French, she was American. Mikey also had a girlfriend (at least, she may as well have been) and she was wonderful! Sophie talked about Mikey to Jason a lot. Sophie talked about all of her friends to Jason. But yeah, the girl's name was Elle and she was French too! They were perfect for each other. PERFECT. And his friends made fun of him for it, too, whenever she was in her room-room and they came over and they talked really loud. Her music wasn't even loud enough, she could still hear them! But she didn't mind, they were funny. And cute, but she left that part out when she talked about them, especially to jason, because she was almost positive you weren't supposed to tell Jason things like that.
So yeah, Mikey was out at the moment, so Sophie had the whole room to herself. And it was hot! The heater was working much too hard, but she had no idea how to fix it, or where the thermobat thingy was. So basically she just started walking around in boy shorts (she didn't know why they called them that when they were for girls, but whatever) and her bra. Which was uncomfortable, but tanktops were too hot, so she was stuck.
And she didn't see anything wrong because nothing was really showing, right? So she didn't mind when she thought she heard the door unlocking from in the kitchen. Actually, she only flinched because Mikey was back! She grabbed the snack food and plopped down on the couch, turning on the TV, not even realizing what she was doing.

So this was the first time Mikey had a girl roommate. Any of the other times girls stayed in his room things happened. Not that he hadn’t thought of that. What guy could live with someone like Sophie and not think about what might happen if they shared more than just a room? Lumiere found the thought entertaining but Mikey had a hard time thinking about anyone else but Elle that way anymore. Still, she did have a certain flair to her that didn’t stop Mikey from liking her... platonically.
So he’d taken the time to bake her a little something. Just some deliciously smelling sweet bread. Sophie was pretty sweet herself so he figured she’d like it. If not, more for him. He reached into his back pocket and hummed while fishing for the keys. He wondered if he should knock. Nah, the noisy lock would suffice. The cheery tune continued as he set his keys on the table and looked around for Sophie.
“Hey, Sophie?” he called out. Mikey wandered towards the sound of the TV. “I baked some sweet--Jesus!” he turned around immediately. What was this? She was just chillin... in her underwear. Mikey wondered if he interrupted something. Okay! Nope. Mind is not going there. “Pardon, uh, sorry,” he fumbled for words and walked forward towards the kitchen again. Now was not the best time to mix up his French and English. “I made something... for you... I’ll leave it in the kitchen,” he called out opening the mini fridge to look for a soda. It was crazy hot in here. The heater must be on the fritz again. Mikey pulled out a ginger ale and chugged it. All the while Lumiere decided to play with his thoughts.
“Perhaps the lady is waiting for you?” he suggested with a cocky grin.
Mikey internally shook his head at the candle. Sophie was just being her quirky self and Mikey needed to get over it. The french Romeo needed to stop putting ideas in his head or he’d soon be a pile of wax. Michael Colbert only had eyes for one lady now that he was back in the states. Those were facts. Yeah, nothing was different. “We should, uh, call someboody about tuh heatre,” he added his French accent leaking in.

Sophie of course didn't really think of those things like Mikey, but that was mainly because she practically still believed in the stork and cooties and that kissing was the biggest thing that happened between boyfriend and girlfriend like her and Jason (even though that hadn't happened as of yet but she didn't mind!) So she didn't think of anything besides liking Mikey (it sort of rhymed haha) platonically.
When she heard her name called, she looked up from the television and smiled from ear for ear (except not really, that would hurt!). "Hi, Mikey!" she didn't even notice him reacting to her lack of clothing. "How has your day been- Wait, what?" He baked some sweet jesus? That didn't make sense! She sat up and smelled something that was really delicious smelling (which made sense okay) and smiled even bigger! "For meee?!" She stood up and followed him into the kitchen and saw the bread sitting on the counter. Yep, that was it! It looked delicious and she couldn't wait to try it, but she was sure it would be perfect because Mikey was wonderful!
"Mikey, it looks wonderful!" she said, putting her hands on her cheeks in excitement and jumping a little. "Thank you so much!" And then she ran up to him and gave him a big hug because he was so nice and he deserved it!
Then she walked back over to the bread and found a knife and a plate and sliced a piece. Oh, it was even more lovely than she thought! Best sweet bread ever! Then he mentioned the heater and she nodded, mouth full. "Ya, is relly haw 'n 'ere!" She wiped her forehead dramatically to show what she was meaning. It was like an oven in here! Sophie was surprised the bread wasn't baking more than it had!

She seemed pretty cool about it. Sophie, and him walking in on her in her underwear. Well, he guess if she was cool, he could be... Well, as cool as anyone could get in this heat. “Yes, for yoooou,” he said after downing the drink. He brought her things every now and then. It was only proper thanks for her being an awesome roomie. Her reaction always made him smile too. “You are welcome,” he said stealing glances but still mostly averting his eyes. Then she decided to hug him. It was a quick hug but it made Lumiere chuckle. He snickered at her hand motion. “Do you know the number for Maintenance?” he asked wondering where all those little papers with the school numbers went to. Neither one of them were exactly the most organized people so Mikey opted to open a window instead. A gust of cool spring air blow in. “Perfect,” he mumbled.
Mikey turned and smiled. “Is that any better?” he asked. He aimed to please. A trait that Lumiere had passed to him Mikey decided. It was honestly just being polite. Manners weren’t exactly the most common thing around the city but it didn’t stop Mikey from trying. Speaking of polite, he really needed to stop stealing glances at Sophie. He couldn’t deny she had a nice body. Curves in all the right places. (He also had a thing for blondes but he wasn’t exactly looking at her hair right now was he?) Lumiere still seem hung up on her choice of garment. He considered it lingerie but then again the candle was past his time. Seriously, bikinis showed more these days! Okay, now was not the time to think about going swimming with L.E.
Mikey sat down on the couch and looked at the TV. “What are you watching?” he asked before hugging a pillow.
