Ari Cain had absolutely no idea what was with the silent treatment that Sunny was giving him. On any other day, this would have been delightful. Wonderful--he finally got that chipper little epitome of a daddy's girl off his back. But for some reason, the fact that she wasn't talking to him was driving him up the wall. The fact that it was bothering him so much was enough to bother him even more, and throughout the rest of the class his beady black eyes were focused at the back of Sunny's pretty little head. The nearly permanent shadows beneath his eyes seemed a little more intense, and the scowl set on his face caused lines that shouldn't have been there at his age. His inky hair stuck up at strange angles, from frustrated hands running and pulling on it, and the rolled sleeves of his flannel shirt were uneven, looking as though he had been fussing with them as well.
His pencil rapidly tapped against his notebook, and more than likely had annoyed the students around him--but a hollow eyed glare at a single person who had complained at him, stopped the others from protesting his nervous habit. His knee bounced in time with the tapping of his pencil as he all but fidgeted in his seat. He was doing his absolute best to bore holes in the back of Sunny's head, and had more than once very nearly screamed for her to turn around. Ever since the mall incident, she had been painfully quiet. There were no questions, no bothering him--and that in turn bothered him. He had done her a favor. He took her shopping from his own wallet, taught her how to pick out her own clothes. So, she was still dressed girlish and doll-like---but it was a work in progress.
At least she was in shoes with laces, and not mary janes. At least she had black stockngs on instead of white. The skirt could be shorter, but at least she was in a shirt and not a blouse. She was getting there. Slowly, but surely. And that was his doing! They were clothes she had picked out all by herself, and not ones that her father had forced on her. Her shirt however did make him wonder if she had even seen the Star Wars movies, or if her father deemed them too innappropriate. After all, Leia had been in a bra and loincloth, basically. But he'd never actually know because Sunny wasn't speaking to him.
There was a small snapping sound and he glanced down, looking at another thin piece of lead that had broken off from his mechanical pencil, making him have to tap the eraser again. Perhaps he was a glutten for punishment, and maybe he would regret this within a few hours--but the lack of her choppy words and thick accent was driving him utterly insane. He was going to make her talk to him, even if it was just to scream at him and curse him out. So when the bell overhead rang, Ari scrambled to his feel, shoving his incomplete math work into his notebook and slung his bag over his shoulder while attempting to shove past the classmates in order to reach Sunny before she got too far out of his sight. "Oy, Sunshine!" ooc; Olley doesn't care much for graphics right now. OUTFIT

Sunny had been taught from a young age that ladies are sweet. They are better seen and not heard, and when they are heard it is better they be heard through their husbands or Father's. That women were naturally clever creatures, and so they were apt to be manipulative, and that is why they needed male protectors. But deep down, buried deep inside her blithe smiles and doe eyes, there was a certain strength that many people did not expect. Ari Cain had been incredibly rude to her, despite her putting forth every kindness in his direction. She had never done anything to provoke him, most certainly. But he had made her feel foolish. He had destroyed her belongings. And then she was suppose to be grateful? Perhaps Julian had put a little bit of strength in the usually gentle girl. Because despite the tapping, the restless shifting behind her, and the countless sighs, she was ignoring him quite effectively. Still, the hour and fifteen minutes of class seemed to roll on forever and ever. It wasn't completely intolerable, even if she was use to giving in to the demands of others. Sunny could feel him want to talk to her. And, as far as she could tell, this was a rarity when it came to Ari Cain. It made her feel quite special, though she would never admit it aloud. Imagine her telling Julian that she had some sort pleasure from the impatient squirms of an interesting classmate. He would be horrified that Sunny could be so sadistic, and that made her wonder if she was in fact being a bit mean. Of course, it was harmless. All tucked away in her head where Ari and Julian would never ever know. Just like he would never know that this cotton shirt- not blouse, not blouse at all- and skirt was really quite comfortable. Especially with no itchy crinoline to poof up the skirt any. The shirt itself had made her smile. When she was twelve and Julian had been full of salt at being ordered to babysit Sunny, he had sat them down to watch the original three Star Wars. It had been magical- oh, she had simply known that the roguish Han and the beautiful Leia were meant for each other! And how sad it was for Luke to live a life without any love. And she had quite literally wept in Julian's lap when Darth Vader had redeemed himself by rescuing his son. The shirt had called out to her. A little nod to that act of rebellion a few years before. Hearing the snap of Ari's pencil behind her seemed to urge her quickly to leave the classroom. This silent treatment would be far more difficult if Ari was in her face. Not because he had an abrasive spirit- though he did. But because Sunny was certain her resolve would crumble. Out in the hall, there was a moment where she thought she was in the clear, before hearing him bellow discourteously. She stopped, her skirt fluttering around her well shaped legs, and her curtain of dark hair falling over her shoulder, giving him a discerning glare. When she seemed to decide she could not be bothered with his boorishness, Sunny continued on her way to her locker. Meticulously she put her things away, keeping the tidy neatness in check with far greater care than she would have normally. Ari Cain would not best her today. ooc;: lol, he totally will. xD

It was sort of like predator and prey--the more she tried to outrun him, the more determined he was to catch up. It was one of those rare moments that he wished he was taller, with longer legs to catch himself up to Sunny a little faster. When he called her name, she stopped and turned and looked right at him. Her eyes sent a chill through his chest that he decided he wasn't very fond of. For a moment, he had taken in awe the way her clothes swished about her frame, and the way her hair moved--but that was quickly forgotten with that damn glare of hers.
He thought she was going to wait--only for her to turn and continue walking. Had Ari been more expressive, his mouth would of popped open, and he might have even uttered a rather mean word. However, the fact that she made quite such a show of letting him know she was ignoring him hardened his face, and he continued following her. Luckily, she was stopped at her locker, and he managed to stop next to her, fixing her with that hard look of his black eyes. "What's your issue, Sunshine?" He questioned, his voice a little more callous than he had intended.
She was ignoring him, and his entire frustration pent up over the day was coming out awkwardly, and almost cruelly. Ari wasn't good at forming his words, or having any sort of tact whatsoever, and the fact that it was Sunny seemed to make his words a little more jumbled. His tone didn't often match what he thought in his head, and it seemded like just breathing in her general direction pissed her off. Which in turn pissed him off, which made her more angry. It was a rather vicious cycle--but he could leave her alone. He would leave her alone if she wanted---so long as he got what he wanted first, of course.
And that would be an explaination.
"Why exactly, have you been ignoring me? Did I sneeze wrong?" It could have been left just at that first bit, and it wouldn't have sounded qute so sarcastic. No, Ari Cain had absolutely no tact to his name.
Why he was so determined was beyond him. In the very beginning, he wanted absolutely nothing to do with Sunny. Sunny, and all her perfect gorgeousness, with her only flaw being she was daddy's dress-up doll. Her accent that sent a headwave through his body, or the way her eyes sparkled, and how she was bright when he wasn't. It was an ill-suited match, and therefore he wanted her far away from her, just so he couldn't taint her purity with his own tendrils of self-loathing. However, that was in the past.
And for some god forsaken reason, the fact that he was getting what he originally wanted was now driving him positively batty.
