*I was so alone, and I owe you so much.*

...basics*
name... Veronica Jean Lawson
nickname... She prefers to be called Ronnie, but her mother thinks it's detestable. "Why would you answer to something so manly, when God has given you such a beautiful, feminine name?"
age... 28
gender... Definitely female.
grade... She's had quite enough of schooling, thanks.
occupation... She's a Cardiovascular Surgeon at Sacred Heart Hospital
hometown... Sacramento, CA. Though, due to her father's career in the military, she'd basically lived all over the place until she got to College. She's been in New York now for nearly a decade.
sexuality... She identifies as heterosexual, but she's starting to think that she's just more asexual. She's tried her hand at a few relationships, but none that really connected properly. She doesn't enjoy sex very much, and has been using her career to spurn romantic advances for going on three years.
personification... Dr. John Hamish Watson from The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes.
status... John isn't one to intrude where he's not needed. He's dormant for now, but he does creep up to observe Veronica during surgery. Medical practice certainly has changed in the last century!
face claim... Miss Felicia Day[/blockquote]
...appearance*
physical... Veronica is not an imposing creature. She is average in both height and stature, and has a congenial, relaxed face most of the time. She is a natural redhead, with pale skin that is prone to sunburn and light blue eyes. On a good day, she is maybe 5'7" and weighs in at a healthy 158 lbs. An easy smile and a fortunate facial composition has made some call her a beauty, but she is okay with just being average.
clothing style... When she isn't wearing scrubs, Ronnie can most likely be found wearing a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Maybe a couple of hoodies. She likes to layer, and to be comfortable. Every once in a while, when the weather is nice, or she has a date, she'll sundress up.
defining traits... Obviously the first thing someone will notice about Ronnie is her mane of firey red hair. The second thing they will notice is her smile, but after that, everything just kind of blends together.[/blockquote]
...personal info*
personality... Ronnie is a very good person. The type to volunteer at the homeless shelter, or help an old person cross the street; she doesn't mind doing it because at her core she is good. It was part of what made her want to become a doctor, because she wanted to make a difference in the world, and every day she feels as though she is. She takes it very hard when she loses a patient.
She has problems maintaining personal relationships, mostly due to the fact that she moved around a lot growing up. She never developed the social skills necessary to make friends. Instead, she spends a lot of her scant free time on the internet. She runs a tumblr, but uses it like a personal journal. She has a few followers, but nothing to brag about. Generally, she's just flattered that people care enough to read her thoughts.
Veronica finds a lot of joy in small things, Plots of books, or television shows. She can be a bit of a nerd, but she doesn't like showcasing it because nobody cares about how many times you've rewatched Firefly, or whether you think The Walking Dead is an accurate representation of a zombie apocalypse. So she mostly keeps that to herself. She can get pretty protective of Doctor Who though, mainly because she appreciates cleverness, and in her honest opinion, besides Sherlock, Doctor Who is the cleverest show on television.
With an older brother and a career military father, Veronica also grew up exceedingly tough. Her mother wanted her to be a godly woman, exuding femininity, but that just wasn't Ronnie's way. She preferred comic books over knitting patterns, jeans over dresses, and basically shunned most everything 'girly.' This distressed her mother so much that whenever Veronica visits her mother, she'll girl it up. She's very much a people pleaser.
life until now... Veronica Jean Lawson was born to Micheal Allen Lawson and Judith Priscilla Lawson on February 6th, 1985 in Sacramento, California. She was their second child, James Patrick being born 3 years previous. Veronica spent all of 2 months with her father before he was called away on Military business. Judith was a good mother to her children, with her heart in the very best place, but having to move every three years was tolling on the children, Veronica especially. Having to constantly make new friends, get involved in new activities, find new churches for worship, it was awful. And while she loved her big brother, everything came so easily to him. He was good looking, athletic, was up to date on the latest fashions and the like, while Veronica was awkward, pale, and had terrible social skills. So, after a while, she stopped trying.
In Middle School, Veronica threw herself into her studies. She turned out to be exceedingly intelligent, and by the time she was entering high school, her teachers were pressuring her to really take a look at what she wanted to do with herself. It was around this time that her father suffered a heart attack. Though he survived, it was a serious blow to the family, and Veronica suddenly had her answer. Seeing the doctors do such an excellent job at saving her father, she wanted to do the same for other people, other families.
High school was a bit better when she could stay in one area, and it was also where she started to really grow into herself. She made a few friends, went out with a few guys, even had a pretty okay prom experience. But she could never quite get over the feeling that it was all temporary. Because of that, she didn't make any lasting friendships, and when she was accepted to NYU's college of medicine, she was thrilled to go as soon as possible.
Her father of course, was not so thrilled. Having left the military two years before 9/11, he felt weak and useless that he had been unable to help. James had joined up, 19 years old, to protect his country from the terrorist threat, and Michael couldn't have been more proud. But he hated the idea of Veronica moving to New York. She argued that it was unlikely that New York would be targeted, and she wasn't about to turn down a full ride scholarship because something bad might happen. That conversation didn't end well, and over the years, her relationship with her father grew more and more strained. It bothered her for a while, but she got used to it, and Judith and Jamey were always happy to keep her up to date with his health and wellness.
College was difficult, but she made it through, even better than high school. She dated, she made friends, but she never let those things get in the way of her endgoal. After years of hard work she became an intern at the prestigious Sacred Heart Hospital in New York City.
It was horrible.
Every night she came home exhausted and depressed. Losing patients, seeing her mentors making decisions that nobody should make, and especially dealing with families who had suffered the loss. She almost couldn't do it. She felt like she was losing sight of what mattered the most. She was on the phone with her mother and Jamey near every night. Neither one of them knew what to tell her to make her feel better. Jamey had a family now, surprisingly well adjusted for being a 30 year old veteran, and Judith never dealt with many problems. If it couldn't be prayed away, then it was too big for her to comprehend.
And then one day, her father turned up on the doorstep. It had been almost two years since they had last spoken, but he knew exactly how to help. He sat her down and they talked, really talked. She told him that she didn't know if she could handle being a surgeon, that she would lose so many people, disappoint so many families. And he looked her dead in the eye, and said "Veronica Jean, grow up. I'm glad you weren't my doctor, because if he had given up as easily as you are right now, I wouldn't be alive today. Now, you've wanted this for over a decade, and I will not let any child of mine wuss out of something because it's too hard to deal with."
the present... And she did. She got over it. Tough love was always her biggest motivator, and her father knew that about her. And it was hard, and it was depressing, but after a while, she found that she loved her job. And she was good at it too. It was like there was something inside her helping her, coaching her. Eventually she graduated from an intern, and now she's a great surgeon.
Though she is quite lonely. And her job is eventful, but her personal life is abysmal. She currently spends her friday nights catching up on the latest episodes of whatever, and her cell phone hasn't rang in ages. She tells herself that she doesn't really mind, but every once in a while, something inside her is begging for something more.
other notes... blah blah blah i hate apPLICATIONS YELLS [/blockquote]
...literature*
title... The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes
backstory... Dr. John Watson is the Chronicler and best friend of Sherlock Holmes. He is with him on most cases, where he then writes about their fantastic adventures and Sherlock's brilliance. Though he has a lot of good to say about Mr. Holmes, John is quick to point out when Sherlock is being an asshole. Seriously, they have the most Rad Bromance of all Rad Bromances.
Deal with it.
