That morning had hardly started on a good note.
Tyler had shaken, prodded and yelled at his friend, but Silas slept like a rock. It wasn't until a cup of ice water had been poured over his head that Silas shot up from his sleeping bag on Tyler's floor.
"Nice of you to join the living," Tyler said a bit sourly.
Silas groaned loudly. His best friend was already showered, dressed, and ready for the day. And Silas would have to attend his new classes without him.
"I've got to go. Come on. Get up. You'll already be late."
Tyler tossed him a towel before throwing him a grin that obviously said 'good luck' and slipped out of the room.
Silas moved sluggishly around the room as he got ready. Once he had showered and checked himself out in the mirror a couple billion times, he made his way across campus. He strolled lazily into the classroom, sending a small smirk at the heads turning towards the door.
“Ah, nice of you to join us,”
The teacher gave him a look and Silas was strongly reminded of Tyler,
“Everybody, this is our new student, Silas Schmidt. He’s a transfer.”
Silas gave the class a half-hearted wave.
“Go on, find a seat.”
He instantly made his way to the back of the classroom, where he could get away with his shenanigans unnoticed. As he slid into a seat, he glanced sideways and grinned widely when he saw a cute blonde girl. Well hello there..
On closer inspection, he noticed how tense she was. The little part of her cheek that he could see through the curtain of gold waves was a pretty pink. His mischievous smiled made his eyes twinkle. He was sure that the math problems weren't causing that reaction.
Pulling out a notebook and a sharpie, he scrawled a note and folded it carefully. Silas looked at the girl next to him and smiled, then reached over and dropped it on the corner of her desk.
Hey. Did you know that you look like a real life Disney Princess? Just saying. ~Silas

When she turned her head to look at him full on, the effect was stunning. Her face was a flawless sun-tinted ivory. Her lips were full and pink and her eyelashes long and soft. And with the way her blonde waves falling across her forehead, he finally came to her eyes, which were the prettiest shade of blue he'd seen since his trip to Lake Superior.
The deep blue orbs were wide with surprise and he couldn't help but smile. She seemed to hesitate, but then she picked it up and unfolded it quietly. He tried to focus his eyes on the teacher, to feign interest in the class, but he couldn't pretend for long. Silas peeked over and barely held back a smile at the blush on her face.
He twirled the sharpie between his fingers impatiently, staring at the front of class as he waited. Maybe she wouldn't respond at all. After all, she seemed kind of shy. Then the note was back on his desk and he unfolded it again, sneaking a look up to make sure the teacher was still lecturing.
Hi! Thank you. I think that’s the nicest thing any body has ever said to me! Does this mean that your my prince? Riley :)
Her response was written neatly in pink. So like a princess. He smirked a little, twisting his tongue ring. Then he pulled the cap off the sharpie with his teeth and held it there as he wrote back:
Nice to meet you, Princess Riley. I find that hard to believe. You're much too pretty for that to have been your best compliment. I think I'd like to be. There must be some competition I'd have to fight to the death though. And I didn't bring my noble steed. :( Think this math class could get any more dull? The professor is so monotone he could be a mortician. ~Silas
He sent it back over to her, capping the sharpie. He looked sideways, grinned, then looked down at his desk as if he was shy enough to not keep eye contact for too long. Girls were so easy to figure out. Here he was, the bad boy, the one the girls wanted to "fix" and he was mysterious, shy and they wanted to be the one to get to know him. Foolproof.

Princess Riley was now smiling through her blush as she read the note. Despite not being at all interested, Silas jotted down some notes from the board for something to do while he waited. Tyler would help him keep his grades up. Last semester was hard without Ty back home, but now Silas wouldn't have to work so much at it. Tyler was a bit of a pushover.
Its nice to meet you, to, Prince Silas. :) Oh, no. I am not that pretty! Im just normal! If you can fight your way past the dragon and save me from the tall tower I have been locked into, then you have no body to fight! :) Class is like this every morning…and he wonders why I am not doing well! Hes just so not interesting! :( Riley! :)
Silas barely bit back a sneer as he read "Prince Silas" like he was joining her in her fairytale world. Some royal family he had. A lonely queen, still mourning her deceased king, with "Prince Silas" merely third in line. He shook his head a little to clear it. He had brought up the whole fairytale idea, after all. It wasn't her fault. She was just a girl.
Glancing over at her, he decided to test his luck a bit. He gave a lazy smile, flicked his eyes at the professor, then back to her, before giving an exaggerated eye roll. The corners of his mouth lifted up to give him a very devilish smile.
He wrote her a reply quickly.
Princess Riley, You most definitely ARE that pretty. And I would fight a dragon to save you any day. I hope you don't mind your Knights-in-Shining-Armor with some burns and bruises though, because I probably wouldn't come out of that one unscathed. I can hold my own in a fight, but against a dragon is a whole other story. I see. Well, that's unfortunate. If I happen to skip class every now and again, would you consider accompanying me? ;) ~Silas
Instead of dropping it on her desk this time, he held it out to the side in his outstretched hand. She's have to touch him to get it out from his fist.

Would she accept his offer right away or would she need some convincing? Silas half-heartedly paid attention to class while she mulled it over. Even though girls were all pretty much the same, and they were all easy to please, the timid ones needed a little extra push. Once they were out of their shell, they were all his.
You know how some people just reek of confidence? Well this Riley girl exuded insecurity. From her blush, to the way she hid behind her hair, her tense posture, even the way she seemed to be unable to take a compliment. It was girls like this that Silas ate for breakfast.
He finally heard the pressure of her pen against the note and his mouth twitched in anticipation. Silas waited impatiently as she folded the note up again, and held it out from her side. He threw her a sly smile. He reached over and took it from her hand, allowing his fingers to linger on her skin longer than they needed to. He checked to make sure the teacher wasn't watching, then he took the note back.
Your making me blush… Skip class? What would we do?
Well, since Tyler was out of his dorm room.. No, no. That wouldn't do. She'd instantly assume he just wanted some. Which was kind of true. But either way, it wasn't polite.
Had this girl never skipped a class before? He wasn't too surprised. She radiated innocence. Silas wrote his reply and handed it back over, a sly smirk on his lips.
We're in New York City, Princess. I'm sure we could find something fun to do.
