It was April Fool's Day, and Adriana knew she was in wonderfully fun trouble. Her friends had this thing where they all pulled the biggest pranks on each other, and Adie loved being the prankster and usually laughed off pranks on her. She saved almost all of her devious and trickster energy that she didn't use on Evan practically every time she saw him for this fabulous day.
Now, one of the main reasons Adriana participated in this war was because she didn't reveal her weaknesses. Not before they started doing this, not after they started doing this, not ever. The pranks never really got to her because they were never one of those things that really bothered her. Not even her closest friends knew what really made her scream and cry (in a negative sense), so she was safe from them using those things against her.
Or so she thought.
Of course, she would use her friends weaknesses and fears against them, and they would freak out at first, but they eventually got over it. It was all in fun, wasn't it? Her friends understood that. But still, she wouldn't reveal her own in case of sweet revenge. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea, after all.
It was after first hour and she was walking down the hall, on the way to her locker and to her stupid math class that she hated because her teacher was no fun. She had her books held safely against her chest in case anyone decided to check them, which was stupid and overused and kind of annoying, and was watching out for her friends in case they decided to try anything.
She was almost to her math class, which she also hated because she had to walk right past the janitor's closet and get hit with the smell of cleaners and it was just an overall bad experience. With a roll of her eyes, she was almost past it, when suddenly she felt hands on her shoulder and arms pulling her back and with the slam of a door behind her, she was suddenly incased in darkness.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck
Adriana felt around for a light switch but couldn't find one. What she did find was the door that closed and apparently locked. The janitors didn't clean until after the school day was over, so how the hell did anyone open it in the first place? She banged on the door, though it was still loud in the hallways. "Guys, open the door, this isn't fucking funny!" she yelled at the top of her lungs, but still no one answered. Even after the halls fell silent and she continued to bang on the door, no one opened it.
And when the thought that no one would hit her, her heartbeat quickened and she felt like she couldn't breathe, though in reality she was breathing too fast. An overwhelming sense of pressure to do something without which the penalty would be death fell over her, and she slid to the ground, breathing heavily and beginning to sob. They wouldn't have done this if they knew how she felt about being alone in room like this, that strange fear of doors closing behind her. At least, they would have opened it before she started having this panic attack.
Suddenly, she heard rustling from the other end of the closet. Her eyes had adjusted to the lack of light, though only slightly, and she could make out a figure but no features. "Hello? Who's there?" she whispered between breathes and sobs. It was probably a ghost that was going to murder her. Well, so long Adriana Aureole Delacroix, you lived a good, short life.
