...appearance*
physical...
He keeps his hair cropped short. Also, he has a fair muscular body. He has a solid and proper figure that he enjoys maintaining. Along with this, he has a rather masculine appearance. All framing a pair of hauntingly blue eyes.
clothing style...
His career choice has dictated his choice in attire. He tends to lean towards wearing very professional clothing (button-downs, ties, slacks, etc). It has carried over into his personal life, which is more comfortable materials, yet still quite 'dressy.' The only real casual clothes are a pair of jeans (that he hasn't ever worn) and his exercise clothes.
defining traits...
He tends to give off the vibe that he never cracks a smile, except at the expense of someone else. However, he blames the emotionless and blank stare on being a psychologist. He works around individuals that suffer from mental disorders ranging from severe to mellow, but he doesn't judge. He doesn't allow the slightly twitch of his eyes or lips. Anything could set the patient off and leave them unable to fully trust him.
In the outside world, he is just seen as a mean-muggin'asshole.

personality...
Dr. Todd Franklin McGuire can be categorized into three different personas. Each one varying from the other, but all containing some bits and pieces of his 'true' persona. Everyone takes on different types through out the day, yet Todd seems to one shift from the three. We can categorize them as such: Dr. McGuire, M.D, Todd McGuire, and Frankie.
Dr. McGuire, M.D.
The work place persona is by far the most intimidating, yet professional character that Todd becomes. His spectral blue eyes holding your gaze while his tensed features send an almost cold chill down your spine. You shift uncomfortably in your seat, but you are petrified. The Medusa-esque gaze freezes you and there is only the ability to speak left. You inhale sharply as he nods is head slowly as your words spill from the vault you had worked years and years to keep closed. This man, Dr. McGuire, doesn't make you feel the usual pain that comes from digging up the past as though you have become desensitized.
He shifts in his high-back dark leather chair, which strains slightly from the weight change. His index finger slowly trails over his full lips as he waits for you to speak again. You've been talking, but you haven't actually said anything. You don't know how he knows it, but the secret tingles the tip of your tongue. You forcibly avert your gaze to the lighted stained golden window panels. You inhale, then exhale. Nothing helps the secret to dissipate from your mouth. He coughs lightly before he speaks.
You hold your gaze to the window as his words dance through your eyes and into your mind. His voice is soft and alluring such to the point of ebbing you to steal a quick glance. He seems to get everything that has affect you throughout your life, but he needs the secret to finalize the puzzle. You know you should tell him, but you don't trust the stranger. Even after months of weekly visits, he feels distant and cold. An island in view, but too far for you to actually see details. You look back to him as the light buzzing from his desk signals for the completion of the session. You smile.
He nods once. You'll be back next week, but what could he possible get from you? You leave his office perplexed yet again by the doctor, but your mind miles away from the true source of your problems.
Todd McGuire
He has the exterior of a suave, clean-cut businessman with a stern face that never seems to crack a smile, yet underneath that intimidating emotionless face lies a jovial man. Enjoying the solitude of his own home over the buzzing nightlife, Todd has been deemed a recluse, or hermit. He has an assortment of books that range from theoretical to philosophical.
This man is the 'everyday' persona that people tend to meet outside the office. He smiles, but it never seems to fully reach his ears. He laughs, but it sounds hollow and forced. He jokes, but they are dry and lifeless. He is a bit of a doorknob in the sense of being interesting or exciting. He lacks a rooted sponitiuity and relies on his routines to get him through his day. He enjoys the occasionally beer or glass of wine, yet retrains himself from drinking too much.
Social interactions are few and far between because of his tendency to get glassy-eyed and distant. He has his few friends, but nobody truly... memorable. He relies on his healthy dose of social interaction with his family.
Frankie
Out of all the personas, Frankie is the most energetic and lively. Color seems to come to his usual dull face. His eyes shifting from haunting to inviting. He smiles with his teeth and his laugh booms loudly. His family seems to be the only ones that get to experience this happier side of Todd.
The Frankie persona is how Todd wishes to be outside of the realm of his family, but he lacks the intial trust for society. He deems them unfit for seeing the jovial side. He consiously makes the effort to be as dull and lifeless in the world because when he sees his family... He knows just how different and jopyful he can be.
He is strongly opininated and outspoken while relying on silence during family qualms. He acts as the peacemaker/keeper to the McGuire clan.
