...basics*
name... Curtis Crane.
nickname... Curt. Curty. Not a big fan of nick-names, really.
age... 16
gender... Male
grade... Junior in High School. It's a miracle my brother made it this far as well, really.
occupation... Barista at Starbucks
hometown... Milford, Delaware
sexuality... Bisexual.
personification...
Fairy Prince from Thumbelina
status... Dormant
face claim... Jack Harries[/blockquote]
...appearance*
physical... Pretty tall, and lanky. He doesn't really do much on the athletic front, much rather enjoying his books and video games.
clothing style... Whatever's comfortable, really. He's had a bit more freedom with his clothes the past while since he didn't have to deal with his brother's insufferable ranting about clothing brands. Some days he likes tanktops, sometimes t-shirts.
defining traits... -Stupidly handsome. And he's quite aware of it. He's got one of those smiles that reach his eyes, and he knows how to make eye contact very well. He's clean, and groomed. When someone knows they're attractive, it's kind of hard to ignore the fact.
-Has a tattoo on the inside of his wrists. "Just one, I'm a few." On the left. "No family too. Who am I?" on the right. It's a quote from one of his favorite shows, and feels it applies to his life in certain ways. Good luck trying to get that much out of him, though.[/blockquote]
...personal info*
personality... Unlike his brother, Curtis is the smarter brother. No contest, really. He takes pride in the fact that he's smarter, harder working, and better than his brother. He's a lot more clear in his words, and doesn't often use slang or curse words. If Curtis curses--it's pretty safe to say that he's in a bad mood for some reason.
He does his best to reign in his temper, often taking a deep breath and shifting his attentions to something else. He feels political views should be private, and that people should keep their heads down and do like what they're supposed to do. Making a big fuss isn't very productive, and the more someone goes against the rules, the more likely Curtis is to resent them.
Despite all of this, he doesn't like being another face in the crowd. He wants to stand out on his own, be separated and not be...mistaken for someone...else. The way he manages to stand out, is by doing his best with his achievements. Scoring high on tests, making the best grades, volunteer work. He's often quite helpful, and donates his extra time to the school by offering to tutor some of the underclassmen.
Curtis keeps his private things private. He doesn't boast his artistic ability, or the fact that he enjoys the violin. These are things just for him, and no one else. He's not even terribly sure his twin is aware of his abilities, but that's just fine with him. The less that loser knows, the better.
life until now...
From the very beginning, Curtis was never alone. For a long time, he didn’t have his own space. And at first he was hidden in his brother’s shadow. Despite his own musical inclinations, his brother went right into the limelight. He was the one everyone was proud of, getting on stage, landing parts in the community plays. All the while, Curtis maintained his violin lessons, practicing in private. It was his own music, not for his brother, not for his father. Not for anyone except himself. Curtis couldn’t imagine how hard it was for their father to raise two twins on his own, but he was happy.
Once Caspar faded from his own limelight, Curtis took over. He shined with academic achievements, kept a good company of friends. Not only did Curtis manage to keep good company and grades, he was polite. Gentle. This earned him a popular place in the eyes of the ladies and the other people that wanted to be him. Emulate him. And Curtis reveled in it. He did his best to not really acknowledge his brother, and despite them being close in their childhood, it had become a game of ‘Caspar who?’. His brother was one of those wanna-be hipsters anyway, and could do a great service to himself if he would do his homework once and a while.
Without a doubt, Curtis considered himself to be the favorite child. Or at the very least, the most successful. Sometimes, he found himself trying to talk to his brother. But every time he saw his twin’s face, he felt repulsed. Frustrated. Angry. His best intentions went out the window, and all it resulted in were heated, angry words being exchanged between the two. It didn’t help their relationship much, and so eventually Curtis stopped trying. Their conversations were little more than grunts and sparse words shared between meals. It must have been a wonder to outsiders how twins could be so distant.
Thought Curtis thought his brother’s intelligence wasn’t anything special, he didn’t expect Caspar would be quite that stupid. When he came home late from a library study session, he found a party in absolute full swing. He was horrified, and tried to track down his brother amongst the people and booze. All the while trying to shove people out the door. Angry words escalated, until both boys were tumbling through the house, swinging fists, legs, and anything they could get their hands on. Never in his wildest dreams did Curtis think that there would be a fire, and that it would have to be extinguished while they faced down a very…very angry police officer.
When their father came home, Curtis was expecting the worst. Curtis found himself blurting the entire night’s events, and it was only proven then which twin was the favorite. Because not long after, Caspar was shipped out and sent to Delaware with their mother. A woman that Curtis couldn’t even begin to imagine really existed. There were only a few mementos, a few stories of her. In a way, Curtis envied his brother. And in another, he felt nothing. It was the first time the boys were really separated, and even though they didn’t talk much—just the summer separation of the brothers left Curtis feeling somewhat empty. But if there was one thing Curtis was, it was stubborn. And he wasn’t about to tell his brother exactly how much he missed his presence, even if they hadn’t really spoken in years.
When it was determined they would both be sent to Baum, he looked forward to seeing his brother again. Just to make sure he was well, and mostly to find out about the mystery woman that had given them up to their father so easily. But when school rolled around…Curtis felt himself swept up by the new crowd, unable to focus on getting any information from his brother.
the present...
Curtis has enrolled, against his will, to Baum Academy. A boarding school in which his brother also attends. That's probably his least favorite thing about the school however--being the better twin, he feels he's assimilating into the school pretty well.
At first, he was able to be his own person. Mingling, getting a head start on his schoolwork. Until someone made the mistake of calling him Caspar. Unfortunately, the yellow pencil snapped in Curtis' hand when that happened. So, his brother had already arrived. Game on.
Curtis was beginning to see it as a challenge, to be better than his brother. To be the name on his classmate's tongues, instead of his brother. But the more he tried to avoid his brother, the more he noticed the world seemed smaller. In some of his classes, the lunch, and even around campus.
other notes... Curtis thinks he's the hottest thing since sliced bread, but he's actually just a little shit.[/blockquote]
...literature*
title... Thumbelina
backstory... So this fairy prince only comes in at the last second, so you don't get to see what a tool he is. But he's prince of the fairies, and totally falls in love with the pint sized broad that is Thumbelina, despite her horrific sounding name. Either way, he ends up giving her a pair of wings so she can join him in the fairy kingdom. Lookit this asshole, giving wings out all over the place.
