...basics*
name Amora Oyola
nickname 'Mora I guess. Nothin' fancy.
age 23
gender Female
grade Junior at Barrie
hometown Santa Fe, New Mexico
sexuality Both. She doesn't discriminate.
personification The Tooth Fairy
status Dormant
face claim Naya Rivera
...appearance*
hair color Dark, dark brown. It's not unlikely that a black box of die would find its way into her hair, though. But black dye isn't that far off from her natural color anyway.
eye colorDark brown, almost black as well. It's a little bit hard to tell where her pupils stop and her iris starts--unless you're up close to her face. But then if you care about your health--I highly suggest against it.
build Amora is built to kill. Her legs are built from dancing, her stomach is trim and lean. She has curves in all the right places, and she knows it. She dresses to emphasize those hair-pin turns. There's not much soft about her, and she regularly goes to the gym or goes jogging to keep in shape.
height It's rare that she's not in pumps, however without them she's a comfortable 5'4". With them, she usually falls around the 5'8" mark.
clothing style Classy, not trashy. That's what her Abuela is always reminding her. Though she does her best to keep it classy, she sees no reason she can't show it off. Amora is a fan of skirt with heels, or high-waisted shorts and heels. Blazers are also another favorite, and she can be seen in rompers as well. She tries to keep it high-fashion, the best she can on a student's budget. A lot of it is accessorizing, and she knows it.
Amora doesn't like looking "broke and beat down", so she doesn't. If you ever see her in sweats with frizzy hair--chances are she trusts you an unimaginable amount. There is always makeup on her face, her hair done like so--always looking like she's about to set foot in front of a camera. Some people would say that made her fake, others would say that she was hiding something. Both of them would be right.
distinctive traits None
...personal*
personality
Amora is essentially two completely different people. When she sets foot out into a club, or to go somewhere--she's Amora. She's ready to speak up against discrimination and racism. She's ready for a throw-down at any given moment, and her mouth is ready to run a marathon. It'd be why she got expelled from her high school, actually. And why she had to transfer to Barrie, actually. Either way--Amora is a rough-and-tumble kind of girl. And has mastered a right hook, and knows how to kick her shoe right off her foot to beam someone in the face.
But those who know her? Those who call her 'Love' or 'Mora'? She's a somewhat shy girl who doesn't let people get in too close. Mysterious and quiet, Mora doesn't make much of a spectacle of herself. She enjoys watching Project Runway on her couch with a notebook and a cup of hot chocolate. Spanish lullabies make her miss her parents, and the smell of tamale's make her homesick. Mora is more down to earth, less likely to start a fight.
Not everyone gets to meet Mora, though. That depends on how you speak, what you say, and if you look too hard for her. If you look too hard--you'll just get the facade that Amora puts out there.
past
Unfortunately there's that stereotype that Mexicans have big families. And in Amora's case, that'd be the truth. You see, she's the youngest of her siblings. She was a surprise to Tomas and Rosa, who's other children had already left the nest to start their lives. They had thought their child bearing days were over, and they had their children as close together as they could. But Amora was special. But...they were barely sustaining themselves in the little town of Torreón.
So they did what they could--they planned a trip to visit Tomas' mother who had gone to the states when their second child was born. Rosa gave birth in New Mexico, which allowed Amora to be a full-fledged American citizen. Custody was given willingly to Mariana, and after eight months of Amora's life--they returned to Mexico to tend to their other children.
Now, it wasn't to say that Amora grew up without her parents. They did their best to come visit every other year, and were constantly staying in touch by phone call and computer, when the technology came into the picture. When Amora was a few years older--they even arranged for her to visit Mexico. Therefore, she never lost touch with her parents, she never lost touch with her culture. But regardless, her grandmother was her mother and father. Her rock, and the one that shaped her into who she is today.
But the road wasn't always easy. Amora wasn't always a little angel. You'd think that in a place like Santa Fe, people would be a little more accepting? The first fight was actually in highschool. Sophomore year, some little gringa decided to badmouth the dark haired, dark skinned Amora who decided to wear a pretty skirt she got over the summer when visiting with her parents. Needless to say, Amora made good use of her head, and promptly headbutted the brat, and knocked out one of her front teeth. This resulted in a suspension.
The second fight was when Darien, the sophomore playboy, decided to cheat on her with her best friend. Right hooks for both of them, and another three teeth missing. Two from Darien, one from Kiki. That was the one that got her expelled, and two months in juvie. Transferring to a "special" school for those with tempermental issues, Amora started her junior year. She was even more angry this year, since her little stint in juvenile hall resulted in her missing out on her annual summer vacation with her parents. And she was no longer the baddest bitch on the block.
The girls that went here were expelled for similar reasons that Amora was expelled for, and it was only a matter of time before there was another fight with Amora in the middle. Again, her three opponents all had at least one missing tooth. Amora eventually dropped out of school, completed her GED, and transferred to the University of Santa Fe.
Two years went smoothly...
present
She was even engaged once to a sweet little thing hailing from Vegas. Michael, who had skin like sweet caramel, and a voice that was rich chocolate. He made her tingle in all the right places, and Amora was smitten. They were planning for a spring wedding in Mexico--but much like her first boyfriend, Michael wasn't exactly loyal to Amora.
It was on the college grounds when she found him and some little redhead caught in a liplock. A good chunk of her hair had been ripped out (surprise, her roots were blonde. Natural red, her ass), and Michael needed veneers by the end of it. Without waiting for the school to go ahead with the expulsion, Amora packed her things and took to New York. Why New York? It was a melting pot. It was different. It was fresh, and new. Busy enough like home, but different enough that she didn't have to see the same judging faces. A place where she could re-invent herself. Then maybe come home once her jets were cooled.
After about a year, Amora decided to pick school back up again. Trying to beat her record of fights--so far so good. Maybe she might just graduate without having to lay a beat-down on anyone else.
family
-Tomas Oyola; Father 60
-Rosa Oyola; Mother 58
My parents are the world to me. They did the best for me by leaving me with Abuela.
-Mariana Oyola; Grandmother, 82
Abuela is my rock. She's both of my parents into one, and always has faith in me when no one else does.
-Tomas Oyola Jr; Brother, 40
-Wanda Oyola; Sister-in-Law, 41
-Carla Oyola; Niece, 20
I don't know them too well. They were long gone by the time I came around. A bit like strangers, really.
-Leilani Lucas; Sister, 38
-Kyle Lucas; Brother-in-Law, 42
-Georgianna Lucas; Niece, 18
Leilani and her family are nice. Still a bit of strangers, but she's always telling me about times Bernadetta would get in trouble and try to pass off as Marco. Georgianna is pretty nice too, but she's usually off with Carla talking about God only knows.
-Marco Oyola; Brother, 35, Divorced
I heard about Marco's divorce. He's the only one other than me that doesn't have kids. He and I are the closest, I guess. He doesn't like Dickface much either.
-Bernadetta Rodriguez; Sister, 35 (Twin to Marco)
-Hernando "Dickface" Rodriguez; Brother-in-Law, 37
-Kelly "LilShit" Rodriguez; Niece, 15
-Jake "Assface" Rodriguez; Nephew, 12
Anna "Brat" Rodriquez; Niece, 5
Seriously. This side of the family sucks. Bernadetta refuses to acknowledge I'm part of this family. And her husband talks to me like I'm some prostituta for fuckin' hire. When I tried to tell Bernadetta--she basically called me a lying whore. Her kids see this, and think they can talk to me that way too. I've wanted to knock LilShit's head off her shoulders more times than I can count.
