Addison Rowe was so used to tutoring people by now that she automatically agreed to requests. It was usually by a teacher. Teachers acted as the middle person because for some reason, teenagers tended to be embarrassed about asking for tutoring. So they told the teacher and the teacher told the tutor and the tutor agreed to meet the student somewhere, some when. The only downside to tutoring was getting somebody who was completely unwilling and rude.
She'd had a few students that didn't care, whose parents had made them do this. Sometimes they were grateful because they needed a good grade to stay on a sports team. Addison liked those students, even though they tended to rant at her about the last game. Why didn't she start charging? Maybe not for the students that were actually trying... But for the ones who didn't want to be there? What was so wrong with earning money doing something she'd like?
... She thought about this way too much. Addison shook her head. The moment she entered the library, she was smiling. Addison loved everything about every library. Sure, she was sometimes disappointed by the lack of material or the loud visitors that the librarian didn't bother dealing with. Usually, though, the libraries always put her in a good mood. Somewhere between calm (obviously) and excited (at the idea of a new find).
It was a shame she wasn't here for books. Today was a tutoring day. All Addison knew was that his name was Chandler and she'd be helping him with English. That was perfectly alright with her. It was one of her favorite subjects, after all. ... 'One of.' It was her favorite subject, after all. The teacher had given her a textbook to work off of. It was all stuff Addison knew; this Chandler kid was a sophomore and so she'd obviously already studied it all.
Settling down at one of the few tables with comfortable chairs, she placed the textbook on the table and waited. She find it quite lucky that this table was even available. They were usually taken. Maybe others didn't really care about comfortable chairs. Pulling a notebook from her bag, she set that next to the texbook. Deciding she didn't want to deal with boredom while waiting, Addison grabbed her favorite pen and started jotting down story ideas.

Chandler hated a lot of things about school from the way that the teachers nagged about homework and tests to the condescending looks when Chandler 'repeated' outfits. High school is was just a big unnecessary place to cause kids to grow self conscience and a house of torture. One thing that he hated the most though was English... It wasn't that it was hard, but he just didn't find the chest in his brain that allowed him to dig deeper and find muse to write papers on certain topics. Chandler just wasn't the paper writing type, so his teacher urged for an upperclassman to assist him in finding a center to help with his writing. He had been told that her name was Addison Rowe and she was a Junior.
He wasn't familiar with the name, which really wasn't a surprise seeing that he didn't know too many people at Baum. At least she was a girl, which meant that she had the possibility of being pretty; however, he was not fitted with good luck. He kept a closed mind on how she would look because he main goal was to actually learn a thing or two from her. He needed to learn or he'd be stuck in sophomore year for the remainder of his life. The idea to be at Baum for his entire life was far from a good thing and it scared him enough to quicken his pace as he rounded the corner.
He pushed through the double doors of the library and eased quietly through the building. He kept his eyes open for a lone girl. He adjusted his one shoulder bookbag as he searched for Addison, but to his dismay he felt his bag get caught on the edge of a table. Before he could act, he felt himself yank and the table corner ripped the strap to his bag clean off. He felt the weight seemingly fall off as his bag fell to the ground with a heavy thud. Just his amazing misfortune working at its best as the bag's content spewed across the floor.
He rolled his eyes as he dropped to the floor grumbling profanities as he gathered his things. He knew that his face was flushed red as the heat spread from his face to his ears... Just his miserable luck... As he gathered up his things, he realized that he was missing his English book and workbook that the teacher was forcing him to complete during the tutoring sessions. Chandler groaned as he shoved his things away and slumped to the ground in defeat.

Addison hadn’t been writing for very long when there was a commotion right… well, right next to her. It startled her so that the word ‘peace’ ended abruptly after the ‘c’ and a dark line cut through the rest of the page. She would have been more upset, but she’d already used up three quarters of the page. It wasn’t like she’d lost an entire blank paper. Setting her pen down, Addison stood from her chair and glanced towards all of the noise. Somebody’s (she didn’t recognize him) bag had caught on the corner of the table and everything (books and pencils and crumpled pieces of paper) had spilled out onto the floor. She grinned a little, able to tell how embarrassed he was. She knew people who swore like that when they knew not what else to say.
Pushing the chair back, Addison walked around the table and kneeled across from him. “That’s just bad luck, ” she commented quietly, grabbing a couple of things closest to her and moving them nearer to the boy, so that she wouldn’t have to wait for him to actually grab the supplies. If she waited, cleaning this mess up would take even longer. He eventually just sat there, looking positively beat. Addison leaned back on her heels and watched him curiously. It was then that she noticed a piece of paper sticking out from his backpack, since he had so haphazardly shoved everything back into it. “You’re Chandler?” She asked, looking at him with raised brows. She was… honestly surprised. What sort of encounter was that? The very student she was supposed to be tutoring was the one that had had the bad luck to get his bag caught on her table, of all tables. “ I’m Addison,” she said, much too eagerly, holding her hand out. Perhaps they could just sit on the floor here while she tutored him. It suddenly seemed much more interesting that at the table, where everything seemed so professional. Teaching on the library floor would certainly be something new, and maybe that way she wouldn’t seem so stingy. (Not that she ever thought she was stingy. It was just something a purple-haired girl had told her last week while studying for her Geometry test). [/blockquote]

Chandler had never been one to willing ask for assistance and even chose to refuse outside help. It had always an independent issue for him, yet he such a dependent person. He hated being alone and most of the time needed an outside influence to keep him on the straight and narrow. When the unknown female bent down to help him, Chandler almost immediately felt the urge to deny her help, but outside of everything he wasn't rude. She was simply helping out of kindness, which was something that Chandler definitely needed at the moment. Her words caused an embarrassed smile to cross his features.
"Yeah, seems to be a cloud of bad luck following me around as of late."
He shrugged a bit as he took what the girl had gathered from her and shoved it unforgivably into his backpack. He just wanted to go home at that point, but her next question caught him off guard for a moment. She knew his name? He wasn't entirely sure how at first, until he remembered that she had just been holding some of his papers. He gave her another shy smile before nodding. He gave her another good look before she spoke again.
That time it was an introduction that caused his cheeks to instantly flush a rosy color. The girl was Addison. It sure was some dumb luck for Chandler to make a complete ass out of himself right next to his tutor. He could only imagine what she though of him now.
"Chandler. Pleasure to meet you," he took her hand gave it a slight shake and squeeze before withdrawing it, "sorry for the informal meeting. I am not usually this clumsy."
He grabbed the last bit of stray items before standing and offering his hand to the older female. She had a kind face, even if what she possibly thinking of him was not so friendly. More the reason to get the tutoring session over with, so Chandler could just retreat into his room to vent with Dan.
