” She placed her book down on the table and, being in such a good mood, swooped in to plant a kiss on his cheek. When she hugged him, she could think only on how lucky she was to know him, and how wonderful of a friend he was. Pulling back and giving him a smile, she seemed almost sheepish at her outright displays of affection, but she clearly couldn’t have been embarrassed when she took his hand in her own and led the way to the counters.
Addison had decided long ago that the best part of Sundays was that they were for relaxing.
Ever since she’d been, what?, twelve, she’d known that Sundays were for books and tea and bubble baths and blankets right out of the dryer. Sundays were for the best sit down dinners, where the entire family could recount their week, and tell any stories they had forgotten to tell. Sundays could be for rising early or sleeping in because it didn’t matter when she got up, she was going to have a perfect morning. Whether she made a nice little breakfast for herself or went out for brunch, things were sure to be easy and slow. Sundays were her absolute favorite day of the week.
She was more excited than usual for this Sunday, for this morning, because she’d be spending it with Tyler Carter, aka, her dearest friend. She’d risen early today, taking a very long and hot shower and even singing, because her roommate hadn’t come home last night, and Addison knew she was safe from being heard. Then she’d tossed her outfit for the day into the dryer, because it was the next best thing to a blanket. Everything was easy and slow and warm, and by the time she’d set off for Baum’s dining hall, she knew nothing, absolutely nothing could go wrong today. Addison was humming as she headed down various halls and passed various rooms, a book held securely in her arms, her hair air drying into her natural loose waves.
Tyler had beaten her to the dining hall and she waved at him from the door, picking up the pace to join him at the table. He’d managed to grab the very best one, right by one of the few windows that actually opened, and close enough to the food that it wasn’t a chore to get up for seconds. “Hi, Tyler, darling, my most favorite of people.
She’d never understood why they had to pay for their food when they (or their parents) spent so much for them to go to the school alone. The food wasn’t even very good most of the time, but she could never complain about the amount of options and the spectacular quality of breakfast. Letting go of Tyler’s hand, she decided French toast was a must this morning and while she stacked two of those onto her plate, she thought about what else she’d like. “How did you sleep?[/color]” Addison asked, glancing at him, looking a tad bit curious, as if he’d had amazing dreams to tell her, ones that she could weave into new novel ideas.
