personality
Leonard doesn’t like to think for himself too often, that’s the first thing you ought to know. Too much thinking for himself tends to give him a headache, usually because Drake has just clipped him around the head. He does have independent thoughts, but they tend to be few and far in between. Leonard’s weight probably came from his habit of eating without thinking, or rather, eating without noticing. He does most other things without thinking as well. This is including blindly following Drake’s orders, which he would do to the grave.
Lenny admires Drake, and cannot see any of his faults. In his mind, the idea of Drake Sterling having a fault is preposterous. Or it would be if his vocabulary went that far. Lenny has no interest in school because he believes his place in life is at Drake’s right hand. This, as well as his lack of frequent independent thought, is something his teachers have been commenting on for years.
Leonard has done violent things over these years, but not because he has a violent nature, or because he enjoys it. Other people just not important to him, so he doesn’t see hurting them as a bad thing.
past Leonard was raised by Catherine and Desmond Smeedley in a dilapidated, two-bedroom house on the outskirts of New York City. Because his parents earned little normally, they liked to spoil him wherever possible. This was usually done with food, because they thought he needed to eat more because he was poor. Needless to say he seems to have inherited his IQ from them.
Leonard was picked on in his early years of grade school. This only stopped when he met Drake. Lenny was ten and Drake was nine, they were in different grades, but that didn’t stop the younger boy from seeing the use in the older. After that they became...something like friends, but not quite. Leonard was more like a servant to Drake, but he has never noticed.
Once Drake got into drugs, Leonard became responsible for supplying them to him, ‘softening up’ anyone who wouldn’t match Drake’s price. Partly because of this, and partly because that’s how it has always been between them, Leonard is now seen as pretty much Drake’s bodyguard, his muscle.
present Leonard was recently forced to read Peter Pan in his leg-up English class. He has begun to notice similarities between his own life, and that of the Jolly Roger’s boatswain (boson) Mr. Smee. He has also noticed the similarities between Drake Sterling and Captain James Hook. It made him wonder, what if he was Smee? What if he and Drake were always destined to be side by side?

rp sample Leonard Smeedley made his way down the hallway of Frank L. Baum Academy. His arms swung loosely at his sides, and in his right hand was a book. This was getting him a few stares from the people who hadn’t already assumed he was about to shove it down some nerd’s throat, or in some other, worse orifice.
Eventually, he reached the locker he had been heading for, and leaned against it as nonchalantly as possible for someone his size. Anyone who had been staring looked away now, partly because they now realised the book must be something to do with Drake Sterling, Leonard’s part friend part master, and partly because he had just glared at them.
The hallways began to clear as everyone headed out for lunch, but Leonard stayed put, waiting for Drake. He wouldn’t leave until he had accomplished one of the few things he had ever set out to do in his life. After ten more minutes of patient nonchalance and glaring, Drake arrived. Lenny backed away from the locker and let his friend in, smiling a greeting. This was met with a questioning look. Lenny stood there until he realised what was expected of him.
“Oh, Drake, I have something I think you should hear...” he said, holding up the copy of Peter Pan he had been given by his English teacher...
